"Take pride in yourself and respect others"

Pilates at Edinburgh Martial Arts College

Pilates

Pilates is a gentle but effective exercise method that uses a specially designed series of repetitive movements to help to build the body’s core muscular strength as well as develop flexibility and improve general posture.

Pilates exercises are beautifully simple and easy to learn. The basic level of movements is gradually, over time, enhanced to increase the challenge.
At the same time, however, the large selection of modifications to exercises makes it accessible to a wide range of people.

The exercises are done slowly, smoothly and carefully in order to work and tone the muscles of the body, as well as develop a better body awareness and more accurate control of the body’s positioning in space. For this reason, Pilates makes a great complement to other sportive and active pursuits such as, for example, dance, martial arts and kick boxing.
